Ramair's Jamie Sturges in Easter weekend track success

Ramair's Jamie Sturges in Easter weekend track success

Published by Davy Lewis on 8th Oct 2020

What a weekend! Saturday saw the Ramair Seat of Jamie Sturges at Donington for the first round of the Aston Martin Owners Club GT Challenge, a tough 50 minute race against GT3, GT4 cars, factory race cars from Lotus and Ferrari and even an immaculate Aston Martin Vulcan.
With a £2million pound car on the grid, for once, avoiding contact was more important than getting to the front! After 49 minutes of a boiling 50 minute race we found out how far the Seat can go on a full tank of fuel – not quite far enough – and we coasted over the line having given up 4th place on the last straight.

Monday was another story: at Castle Combe for the GT championship season opener, we were up against much more powerful opposition in our class in the shape of the Seat of Ilsa Cox and the usual Kuhmo spec. E46 M3s. With qualifying compromised by having to bed in brakes, only a handful of quick laps were possible and 10th on the grid put us out of place. With the insanely quick Viper, Noble and Tigra silhouette disappearing into the distance at the start, the battle for class honours began and with the heat taking its toll on some of the grid, and after some tight racing, we took the lead from Lucky Kiera around 2/3 distance to bring home the Class D win. The second race took a similar shape, but with Dylan Popovic’s Ginetta getting in front of the rolling start, more work was required to catch and pass the other Seat for the Class victory again. Two fastest laps means we’re tied first in the championship, a great result and a fantastic demonstration of what a standard VAG EA888 engine can do – back home for beer and barbeque – perfect day!
